Most if not all modules on a modern vehicle will need some form of coding and or programming to enable them to work correctly, at times the vehicle may not even start until done so. Reasons for this include:

• Security information is stored (Vin/Key data/Immobiliser data)
• Mileage
• Module is blank so in effect just sits there and does not interact/talk with other modules
